Trailheads and Permits

The Western (Eldorado National Forest -- Loon Lake, Tells Creek, Twin Lakes, Lyons Creek, Rockbound) Trailhead signs and Self-Issue Day Use Permit Stations are now taken down for the winter.  Day and Overnight permits are still required for trips into Desolation Wilderness and are available at Pacific Ranger Station (HWY 50) and the Tahoe Supervisors Office (South Lake Tahoe).

This website is established for the Desolation Wilderness Volunteers, and Public Information. Our goal is the preservation of Wilderness and the education of its visitors to achieve it. We will use this site to plan events, contact each other, exchange information, and to provide the public with condition updates.  Our Volunteers have gone through extensive training and are here to help.
